Chicago : The Windy City

I've travelled to Chicago thrice in the last few years. It is a city with a character and history deeply rooted in the American Civil Rights Movement. Chicago is a hidden gem on the coast of Lake Michigan. It is a segregated city with the majority of the black population living in the South Side, while Downtown Chicago is filled with the glitz and glamour of the wealthy.  Downtown Chicago is uniquely designed with multiple bridges connecting it to the other parts of the city. On arrival at Midway International Airport, I took the train downtown. Trains in the USA are mainly cold steel boggies that rattle down the tracks back and forth, carrying the working class to and from the city.  The orange line in particular had a lot of daily commuters, one of whom started playing his boom box on the train.                 The train journey takes one through impoverished working-class suburbs with minimum infrastructure. The Rainbow to Niagara

Image
Last year over the  hot summers in order to cool of a little we decided to head to Niagara Falls. Niagara falls is seemingly breath taking and magnificent. While the sun shines hot and fiery the gentle veils of mist arising from the falls cools you down and on a clear day you might even get a glimpse of a marvellous rainbow. Niagara is home to three waterfalls the largest of which is the Canadian horseshoe falls and is the largest source of hydro electricity and fresh water for Canada. The Niagara falls has travelled down stream over thousands of years and it is said that the falls has moved back 7.1 miles over the years. The surreal blue waters of the Niagara have not been too hospitable to mankind baring the Maid of the Mist tour which is the only boating tour in the sparkling blue waters of the Niagara Falls. I have been blessed to visit the falls four times over with renewed vigour and gusto because there is always something new and unique to do in Niagara. So last ye...

Summer Walks Around My City !!

Image
With summer touching the shores of Canada, the Northern polar hemisphere awakes from its slumber to take advantage of the beautiful warm weather. At this time of the year people walk a lot coupled together with biking and scooter rides thanks to the city tying up with an Los Angeles based company to promote an active city. Waterloo is a beautiful city filled with breath taking trailways, little rivulets and brooks that trickle their way through the city from their mother source The Laurel Creek which feeds the conservation centre and Waterloo's biggest summer attraction around the year. My husband and I both share a love of long walks amidst nature as your heart and mind are the calmest when you are one with Nature. We have taken many walks around our little city together and seem to have taken a love for all the little corners far from the madding crowd of Waterloo Public Square                            ...
